How does this music search malarkey work, then?
Where do you get your links from?
The search is powered by various audio search engines. Seeqpod help us out with the video results.
It uses results from their collective databases, and then applies special algorithms to make sure you only get the tastiest, freshest tracks.
So why not just use the sites themselves, then?
Well, their interfaces are usually pretty bad. Either clumsily used AJAX, required sign ups, inability to download, or having to tweak the search to get MP3's of a reasonable length... the list goes on.
Even then, they always return lots of dead mp3s. We don't!
So how does your searcher work, then?
Well, we submit the query to the databases.
We then are presented with a huge list of potentially erroneous links; so we cycle through each one, checking they're okay.
This ensures you don't get a 404, and the site is of reasonable download speed. Some sites won't be fast enough to stream from; that's the nature of the internet.
I got a result that wasn't an MP3!
Really? Email noc@cr3ation.co.uk and tell us what you did.
Can I link to you?
Sure, it's a free internet!
I'm a lawyer. Stop giving music out!
Okay, we understand. Here's where we stand legally.
We do not host music played through this service on this server, and we do not store an internal database of where
to find the music. Our data comes entirely from external providers.
It is streamed from the site stated underneath, or to the side of the flash player. These are the people hosting the music, not us.
This is simply an indexing service with an algorithm to validate results. If you want to tell anyone off, go after the data providers.
We get the results through them, and analyse them. We are not enabling, assisting or encouraging copyright infringement, we are refining existing data which is freely
accessible on the internet. The data we use comes from external providers.
Legally, it is not possible, in either the US or EU, to be pursued under law, criminal or otherwise,
for watching, listening to, reading or even being in possession of, material which was distributed,
broadcast or otherwise published, in violation of copyright.
The legal responsibility, in all cases, lies with the publisher, distributor or broadcaster of the material.
We don't act as any of these parties, and never will.
All the mp3 files located by cr3ation b3ta are hosted on openly accessible web servers and so therefore, the presumption must be that the webmasters/companies concerned have the necessary permissions etc. to distribute this material.
